Key features:

  • Seven fully functioning, interactive spacecraft interiors and exteriors. Each individually crafted to accurately portray the changes in design and loadout.

  • Seven complete playable missions from the Mercury program (including the cancelled Freedom 7 II)

  • Detailed models of the Atlas and Redstone rockets on historically accurate launch pads (and the ability to witness test launches from the ground!).

  • A full scale recreation of Earth as seen from low orbit.

  • A virtual recreation of mission control including control room, spacecraft hangar and pilot's office.
I really, really, really, really, really want to fly Freedom 7 in VR! Please, please, please make this....
PeterOI'm a Mercury geek, and this looks like a great simulation. However, the delivery date of December 2018, almost 3 years from now, doesn't give me any confidence that backers will ever see it.
neo1022I agree, the sim looks amazing. But as you note, three years is a an eternity in the tech world, especially for an emerging consumer field such as VR.

But the presence of this sim — along with the Apollo 11 mission sim — makes me think that this could be a real niche in VR: vicarious experience of spaceflight. I bet we'll see more of these...

GFLMercuryHi, thanks for the interest!

Please note that, as Kickstarter is set up for physical products it requires a shipping date. 2018 was selected as an extreme "worse case" publishing date. If successfully funded alphas of the full game will be available to play this year, with the game entering beta either late 2016 or early 2017, with a hopeful release of late 2017.

Please note that it is not unusual for a game to be in production for much longer periods, KSP was in alpha/beta for nearly 5 years, Orbiter 2010 took 4 years, time is particularly an issue when dealing with a single developer like myself rather than a large production company... but then a large production company wouldn't bother making a game about Mercury. GFL:Mercury is never going to make me rich, it's a labour of love from a passionate Mercury fan!

I hope this helps to allay some concerns. — Joe Chisholm
